As our 2016 Fall Community Outreach Project, the AWA has chosen to support the New Orleans Family Justice Center.

The New Orleans Family Justice Center is a partnership of agencies dedicated to ending family violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and stalking through prevention and coordinated response by providing comprehensive client-centered, empowerment services in a single location.

The AWA is supporting the New Orleans Family Justice Center through donations of items needed for their Children’s Services “Storyland” play therapy program and other items.  They have established an Amazon.com “Wishlist” that is available now and will wrap up on the day of the AWA Holiday Tea (Thursday, December 15).  AWA members can access the Amazon.com “Wishlist” to easily donate needed items, or bring gifts/gift cards to the Holiday Tea.   The Wishlist can be found by clickinghere.

* As another one of our 2016 Fall Community Outreach Projects, the AWA has also committed to providing Thanksgiving dinner to the women and children at Metropolitan Center for Women and Children again this year!  Metro offers individual and group counseling and assistance for domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking survivors.  Metro also provides a children’s program, legal information and advocacy, and community outreach for the Greater New Orleans area.  There are currently 15 women and children living at the shelter.  For more information about Metro, click here.
