11:00 – 12:00 pm – 1 hr. CLE (Ethics) – Lauren Godshall, Morris Bart, LLC – “Ethics of Keeping Your Confidential Data Safe.” New technologies are cropping up every day, and with them, new threats to security. Are you taking the necessary steps to preserve confidentiality and protect clients’ data? Ms. Godshall will draw on her extensive litigation experience to discuss attorneys ethical duties to take competent and reasonable measures to safeguard client data.
12:00 – 12:30 pm – Optional lunch
12:30- 1:30 pm – 1 hr. CLE (Professionalism) – Judge Tiffany Chase, Civil District Court: “Admitting Our Mistakes: Owning Up to Lawyer Missteps.” Lawyers provide human services, and mistakes are inevitable. How a mistake is handled once it occurs, however, is critical. Judge Chase will discuss real-case examples of results obtained by lawyers being forthright about their errors contrasted against outcomes where lawyers hid and compounded their mistakes. This presentation will foster an attitude of accountability for professional error.
